Who We Are
SNAP has more than 30 programs addressing issues around housing, financial stability, and community action.
What We Do
Our mission is to provide access and connection to resources that create opportunity, with dignity, for people of low income. We serve about 45,000 people in and around Spokane County each year with education and empowerment to move beyond their barriers and create a better life.
The foundation for what is now SNAP got its start in the summer of 1966, when Father Frank Bach, then the director of Catholic Charities in Spokane, enlisted the assistance of the St. Vincent DePaul Society to establish three community centers, in Hillyard, East Central and West Central Spokane, each with a goal of helping low-income people meet their emergency needs as well as to provide a multitude of services within those communities.
SNAP's vision is a strong community where all people have the opportunity to strive toward their full potential.
