Greet guests, visitors, and others at various Riverfront Park locations

Answer guest questions about park amenities and entertainment Direct guests to the areas such as restaurant, attractions, restrooms and other amenities Monitor activities at entrances and lobbies Alert park management of service and/or security requests

Volunteer at Riverfront Park!

Be part of the action during events by being an event operations volunteer. Duties include:

Assist event managers and specialists in supporting event activity, including assisting with vendor booth locations and site maps Provide support to vendors as needed and/or direct inquires to appropriate park staff (e.g. staff park entry points, etc.) Provide onsite support services to include event organizer/vendor communication, litter pick up and disposal, or other event duties that provide a seamless and enjoyable event experience. Take photos and collect event details for post-event reports

Make a positive impact on the quality of life in our community by volunteering with Parks & Rec! With over 4,000 acres of protected green space and hundreds of recreation activities, volunteers are integral in helping Spokane keep our public spaces and recreation actives enjoyable and accessible to all.

For this volunteer opportunity, we need help picking up litter in your local parks. All you need to bring is yourself! Volunteer at your leisure any time. Just let us know which park you'd like to volunteer at 48 hrs in advance so we can have supplies ready for you if needed.

A Parks representative will email you within 72 hours of signing up to discuss the volunteer locations and hours with you.

Volunteer: Adaptive Ski or Snowboard Instructor

In this volunteer position with Therapeutic Recreation, you will help participants with disabilities experience the thrill of gliding down the mountain with our Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Program Powderhounds Program, or Cross-country Blue Waxers program. These programs operate Saturdays on Mt Spokane, typically from 9:00am - 3:30pm but hours may vary. Skiing or snowboarding experience required.

Volunteers get a lift ticket good for that day only on each day they teach. If a second year volunteer they qualify to purchase a $100 season pass from the mountain. Every two times they teach they qualify to purchase a discounted lift ticket to be used by themselves or a family member.

Mandatory Instructor Training :

In an effort to improve risk management and best practices of standard industries the Training requirements for Instructors is being modified. It is crucial trainings are attended(new and returning), and instructors wear helmets that are 5 or less years old . Charley Phelan out of Steamboat Springs will be our Head Clinician.

Returning Instructors:

Please note the new requirements. Dryland Training Friday Jan 3, 2025 6-8:30 pm at Park Operations, 2304 E. Mallon Ave. On snow training will occur Sat.Jan 4, 2025 8:30 am-1pm or 1:30-6pm . This will be the same clinic repeated so only sign up for one.

The second on snow day will be: Sun Jan 5, 2025 8:30am- 4pm (choosing 2 of the 3 sessions)

#1: 8:30am-11am for Sit Down

#2: 11:30am-1:30pm Visually Impaired/ Cognitive

#3: 2-4pm Stand Up 3 & 4 Track

On snow clinics will be meeting at Mt Spokane Ski and Snowboard Resort- exact location TBA. These clinics will help teach new and returning instructors skill progressions and new teaching techniques. We will be observing your ability to work with people, your ability to ski, and your ability to teach to ensure a quality program. Instructors are asked to commit to volunteering a minimum of 6 lessons so students experience consistent instruction.

New Instructors:

Dryland training Friday Jan 10, 2025 6-8:30 pm at Park Operations, 2304 E. Mallon Ave. On snow training will occur Jan 11, 2025 from 8:30 am-4 pm. The focus is on personal ski development and progression steps 1-4.

Day 2 of training is Sunday Jan 12 8:30am-4pm The focus will be teaching progression with equipment.

All on snow trainings will be meeting at Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Resort. Exact location TBA. These clinics will help teach new and returning instructors skill progressions and new teaching techniques. We will be observing your ability to work with people, your ability to ski, and your ability to teach to ensure a quality program. Instructors are asked to commit to volunteering a minimum of 6 lessons so students experience consistent instruction.
